Greeting Class,
I find that at the beginning, and periodically throughout the semester, I must, unfortunately attend to a matter of business. While there are significantly few offenders, and while there has not been a disturbance to the class of any magnitude, I am once again requesting that all students raise their hand, and wait to be called upon before speaking.
I do not want to hearken back to the days of yore, stuck in the strangle holds of compulsory education, but for a class, especially a discussion class, common courtesy commands this class act.
Thank you,
Jacob
I second that request. Carefully attending to such policies also encourages participation from those a bit slower to raise their hands. As moderator, I try to give everyone an equal voice, and will usually call on those who have yet to speak before allowing anyone else a second opportunity.
